Rachel Shmuts, DO
Rachel Shmuts, DO, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the Vice Chair of Education of the Department of Psychiatry at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. In that role, she serves as Psychiatry Residency Training Director, Psychiatry Clerkship Director, Human Sexuality Intersession Director for 2nd year medical students, and Brain and Behavior Block Director for 1st year medical students. Dr. Shmuts is also the Medical Director and a transcranial magnetic stimulation Specialist at the Healing House of South Jersey, Cherry Hill, NJ. She completed Psychiatry Residency Training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and graduated from UMDNJ (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine). Dr. Shmuts completed a Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and she is certified in Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Shmuts also completed Certificate Programs for Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care Postpartum and Maternal Mental Health Professional Training from Postpartum Support International. Her area of clinical expertise is women's mental health with a focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Shmuts has published a number of articles and lectured extensively on a variety of psychiatry topics nationally and locally. Dr. Shmuts is involved in a variety of volunteer activities in her community and state, including serving on boards of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and Postpartum Support International-New Jersey Chapter. |
