We are honored to welcome to the OMED Main Stage U.S. Army Brigadier General Mary V. Krueger, who serves as the commanding general of Medical Readiness Command, East, and the 24th chief of the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

A 1995 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Krueger will share insights from her journey as an osteopathic family physician who has ascended the highest ranks of military health system leadership.

Dr. Krueger received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Houghton College in 1991 and was commissioned through the Health Professions scholarship program as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. After earning her DO degree from PCOM, she completed residency training in family medicine and a faculty development fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington.

Dr. Krueger is board certified in family medicine and has earned several advanced degrees, including a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Washington, a Master of Military Arts and Science degree from the Command and General Staff College, and a Master of National Security and Resource Strategy degree from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy.

Future Health, Future Healing: The Technological Transformation of Osteopathic Medicine

Cole Zanetti, DO

Cole Zanetti, DO, MPH, serves as a senior advisor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Care and Payment Innovation and National Innovation Ecosystem, where he leads and advises value-based care delivery and payment innovation and emerging technology pilot programs.

Dr. Zanetti’s presentation will explore how the osteopathic profession can serve as a leader in the new era of medicine, with an emphasis on how technology will impact the practice of medicine. He will discuss how physicians can use artificial intelligence, digital health and other emerging technologies to support training, education and practice.

In addition to his work with the VA, Dr. Zanetti serves as Chief Health Information Officer at Ralph H. Johnson VA Health system in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Director for Digital Health at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. During his tenure, he collaborated with a team to create the first-of-its-kind four-year medical student training track focused on digital health and the future of medicine.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Zanetti served as the VA Acting Director for Value Based Care and Payment Innovation and primary care section chief for the Eastern Colorado VA Medical Center. In addition, he served as a primary care physicion at Iora Health in Colorado, where he focused on population health and quality improvement initiatives.

Dr. Zanetti is triple board certified in family medicine, preventive medicine and clinical informatics, and completed training in family medicine and preventive medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He serves on the board of directors for the American Osteopathic Information Association and has served as a Physician Advisory Committee member for the National Quality Forum and as a technical expert for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

He is a recipient of the National Emerging Leader Award from the American Osteopathic Foundation and the Primary Care Innovation Award from the American College of Physicians. He earned an MPH degree from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and a DO degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also earned a bachelor’s in Psychology from the University at Buffalo.

With Omar Lateef, DO, at the helm as president and CEO, Rush University Medical Center gained national recognition for its management of the COVID-19 pandemic, which included being one of the first health systems to offer antibody testing. As a result, Dr. Lateef was named by Modern Healthcare as one of the 50 most influential clinical executives in 2023.

Dr. Lateef is a nationally recognized leader in the measurement of health care quality. He has worked with physicians and analysts across the nation to evaluate the driving factors and methodology of quality rankings by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), U.S. News and World Report and others.

During his keynote, Dr. Lateef will share strategies for addressing systemic inequities in health care, leveraging mission-driven partnerships and staying focused in the midst of regulatory changes and economic challenges.
